Van a ver la transmisión de la boda real?
So I love Hollywood! Last night I ritually watched the Academy Awards. I always watch everything: the red carpet and the award show. Last night’s show was very good but it did have some boring moments. Overall I really enjoyed it but then again I always do. Here are some comments I have at the top of my mind:
- The red carpet get crowded and crowded every year. I do not understand why they banned any other people that are not stars. Or at least put a rule of a star + 1 and the rest of the mere mortals can go in some other way. Oh by starts I am including directors and celebrity industry people like the Weinsteins for example.
- I get to only watch E! red carpet coverage since I live in Costa Rica and not have any other choice. I do like Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic a lot but some things annoyed me this year about it. For example I sometimes like it when they use the small screen so we can still look at the people coming in, but they should have a better judge of a producer that know better when to do it and don’t. It wasn’t a secret that one of the most desired to watch celebrities was Robert Pattinson. First Ryan keeps asking boring questions to Amy Adams who’s a great actress but not that interesting to watch at a red carpet or off screen period; while Robert waits behind. Who cares about Amy’s life we always want Robert. Then they put Robert on the small screen. Plain idiots for god’s sake. And that was just the tip of the iceberg because they did that more times than I care to remember right now.
- Why don’t they show more shot and varied shots of the celebrities in the audience. They focused on Angelina (who is beautiful I obviously agree) too many times. Show everybody at some point. It would be the best to happen when winners are walking toward the stage.
- I did like the musical numbers even though I am not into that type of stuff, but to see people like Zack and Vanessa or Amanda and Dominick participate in them was fun. (I gotta mention that I do admire Zack and Vanessa, they seem so mature and natural in their relationship is admirable)
- Speeches by Penelope and Sean were nice to hear and watch, even though I was tense throughout Penn’s since he is always eager to say his truth and in a not so refined way.
- The presentation of Slamdog’s musical was very powerful.
- The japanese winners were really funny and graceful.
- Ben Stiller as Joaquin Phoenix was just toooo hilarious, I love Joaquin and I think he has the right to act which ever the way he feels like it, but Ben nailed him and it just made me laugh hard.
- I also thought the Pineapple Express bit was too funny, the way they laughed at the dramas. And yes why wasn’t Stepbrothers nominated it’s beyond me!!!
- Heath Ledger’s family are a class act all around. The way they’ve behaved up to par with Matilda and Michelle Williams to the graceful and elegant way they took the stage and not make a melodrama of the whole thing. It was very moving.
- The winner screenwriter for Milk was also very touching on his speech.
- I did like the way 5 previews winners presented the nominees; the thing is that it depended of their personal choice of words weather the time was longer or the message was deeper and funnier. I guess the point was that some of the remarks were entertaining and some were just boring or lame.
- I like Kate Winslet but she is rather cheesy in her expressions and her comments.
- Even though I admire some of the qualities Angelina Jolie has, and find their adopting of children very inspiring and admirable; I am kind of sick and tired of them. I do believe Angie is a great actress, not so much Brad but he definitely is handsome and has charisma. But the way they behave in front of reporters it seems to me like fake humbleness. What transpires, at least in my point of view, is a sort of badly hidden superior attitude. They seem to try sooo hard to be graceful and correct but at the end of the day they believe that they are way too sacrosanct in their existence.
- Yes Jen Aniston was nervous when presenting, but I don’t think she cares about Brad and Angelina anymore. I think she knows that she got away from an asshole and a poser as a husband. I think she needn’t be pitied at all. Even though it seems that Angelina has it all, I believe appearances are just that: superficial. She knows she is better off without that shallowness that it all was.
- Mickey Rourke is an amazing actor. Even though his face is disfigured by bad plastic surgery, he is incredible. But what’s with that hair and sunglasses. I mean the fashion was bad enough but everyone should have their style, but the hair is just ugly.
- Overall I enjoyed the show very much.
I definitely enjoy some weekends by myself more than anything. I seem to need them for my mental and emotional health.
This weekend was like that: hardly any calls, no email, no Internet for that matter, no visits, no going out; just me and my pets, at home doing whatever. And time even flies.
I appreciate many things about me, and the capability of being perfectly entertain and happy by myself for days straight is one of them.
Sometimes I feel so much fear it makes me want to be paralized. But it is just for a moment, then I realize there’s God and I let go and I continue to do what I have to do just now.
Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance.
Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor annoyance.
Where there is love and joy, there is neither greed nor selfishness.
Where there is peace and meditation, there is neither anxiety nor doubt.
